How Art Can Keep You Healthy

As some of you may know I'm a working mom. Not only do I run Arie Debren Art, I'm also a training coordinator for a 911 center. Between 2 jobs, kids, and a marriage to maintain my brain is in constant stress overload.

Studies have shown that making art can lower stress and anxiety. A 2016 paper by the Journal of the American Art Therapy Association showed that just 45 minutes of creating art can lower your cortisol levels (hormone that helps your body respond to stress).

And it doesn't matter if you're a novice or professional artist. Being creative is beneficial to us all. Art helps with focus and concentration. If you're going through a rough patch in life, it can help you take your mind off what you're going through, even if for a little while.

It's even used by the military to help service members who are suffering with PTSD.

A Mayo Clinic Study found people who did artwork in their middle and old ages were less likely to develop mild cognitive impairment compared to those who did not.

Art has been shown to carry many help benefits but scientist still have not figured why it works. All I can say is I'm glad it does.
