Every King Needs His Coretta

In honor of MLK Day 2018, I'd like to pay homage to Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Not only did she have a career in activism herself, but she also did her best to take care of her children and support her husband.

Mrs. King took part in  many speaking engagements at churches and in front of civic groups. She also was a liaison for peach and justice organizations. She was the ultimate full time working mom and I, as a fellow full time working mom, look up to her for that.

Dr. King and Mrs. King seemed like such a formidable team. Even though they were both brilliantly strong on their own, I'm sure they wouldn't have been as great without the other's support. That's how it is in a marriage. You bring out the best in one another. Without your better half you feel lost. True love will have you feeling like you need that person, even though you'd probably be able to go through life perfectly fine with them. Why would you want to? Every Coretta needs her King and every King needs his Coretta.
